Is Netweaver Gateway is pre-requisite for SAPUI5 and Fiori?

I have been browsing many posts but unable to find an answer to my question and request your help. Is Netweaver Gateway required for SAPUI5 and Fiori ?

Hi Satish,

For Fiori, yes you need Netweaver Gateway as the application delivered by SAP needs to be deployed in and launched from Gateway system and the the required components(IWFND and others) are only available in Gateway. There are many options of deploying gateway systems -

For UI5 application the answer is both yes and no. It depends from where you get data and where you wan to deploy/host the application.
