Direct update DSO for reporting?

Former Member

Hi Experts,

I am using APD to push BPC data to direct update DSO however I need to design a report using planning data along with the sales cube data. To do this, do I need to push data to the standard DSO first from direct update DSO and then define a multiprovider on top of sales cube and standard DSO to design a Bex report or is it possible to make use of direct update DSO for reporting.

Please advise.

Thanks

Shikha

Hi Shikha,

From the Scalability point of view its better to go for

APD->DSO(Direct)->DSO(STD)->Cube->MP

Thanks SVU,

Since it will be full upload for direct update DSO therefore to push data from standard DSO to cube, delta needs to be defined or cube data needs to be deleted every time?

Hi Shikha,

We can go for Full Deletion with Full Load....as its going to be a Daily Delete and Load Data Flow as per the requirement.

The APD->DSO(Direct)->DSO(STD)->Cube->MP is for Scalability...in case any enhancements or any changes needs to be done , it would be easy in future.

Thanks all,

One last thing, anybody faced any authorization issues for the reports defined on the DSO.

Thanks

Hi Shikha,

If the DSO is Auth relevant then no data will be shown.

If the DSO has been restricted in the RSECADMIN and assigned to the role then it would not display any data when report is executed.

Hi Shikha,

You can create Bex query on direct update DSo there is no issue.

according to your business requirement you can decide if you want to show data which is present in direct update dso then youcan create report on it because eveery time when you execute apd or api your last data will be deleted from direct update dso.

hope it will help.

Hello Shikha,

In addition to what Ganesh mentioned, you can also take below in consideration

- If large data set is expected then do not use DSO as you might encounter performance issues

- It might be difficult to capture delta in Direct update DSO (depends on your requirement)

Thanks for the reply

Yes since its for Budget data, only most updated data is required to push into DSO.
