Lock not set for master data attributes

Hello,

I face a problem trying to delete old master data that are no longer valid. System prompts "Lock not set for: deleting master data attributes".

This particular master data value is not used in any cube. So, I cannot understand why there is a delete function but no delete allowed.

Pls advise.
