Crystal Reports 2011 problem with Bex in BW hana

Former Member

Our company is moving to hana. In our bw we have used bex queries since initiating bw. When connecting to the bw hana from Crystal Reports, the bex query names display in the Set Datasource Location, but but there is no underlying data in the query. We are using CR 2011 SP2 patch 16. Is there a CR service pack that will fix this connection problem? Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks,

Ron

Hi,

Please update the query using Set Datasource Location.and how to connect BW HANA in CR 2011..

Bex queries are connecting in crystal 2011 using SAP BW MDX Query..and also crosscheck right driver you are using in your report.

DJ,

Thanks for your reply.

I updated both the server and the query using Set Datasource Location. The driver might be the solution. How do I check the driver for the report?

Thanks,

Ron

DJ,

Do you mean selecting SAP BW MDX Query from the New Connections Options rather than SAP Table, Cluster, or Function?

I created the connection to the hana database using the SAP BW MDX Query option.

Is there another driver I should use?

Thanks,

Ron

DJ,

Why do none of these links mention bex queries being used by Crystal Reports? They all mention connecting to hana using odbc or jdbc. We have scores of crystal reports connecting to dozens of bex queries. These links suggest everything will have to be re-built using odbc. Is that really true?

Is it possible to connect to the bex with odbc?

Thanks,

Ron

Hi,

No, not possible to connect bex with ODBC connection, but these links are mentioned some standard information. And also try to create a connection to SAP HANA using ODBC..I think all bex queries are connect with HANA right...See how this helps..

The people working on the upgrade of our system to a level acceptable to hana had several transports relating to Crystal Reports fail. Certain files were updated inappropriately. Using SPAU these files were identified and re-set to their original state. The updated code had broken the connections necessary to connect with hana using bex queries through Crystal Reports. Once the updated code was backed out, the connection from Crystal Reports to hana using bex queries was successful.
