Hi Faheem,

does this happen for a single query or all queries?

if possible, can you try changing and saving query at one of your collegues system? are any other collegues facing this issue?

what happens when you re-open a query that you had saved using save as option and then again try to change and save it?

Please check if your BEx installation needs any patch update or missing componenets.

Hope this helps.

Swati.

Hi swati,

Actually my Project Manager told me about this issue, when he checked the queries, then i checked on my system,

When i edit any query it do not reflect changes on analyzer, but when i edit the same query and save it with a new name changes are reflected.

Hi Faheem,

once you get the error, can you please check Tcode SU53 and send it to your basis team for any authorizations missing.

Also, Please answer all my questions.

1. does this happen for a single query or all queries?

2. what happens when you re-open a query that you had saved using save as option and then again try to change and save it?

3. check with your basis team if your bex installation needs an update.

4. I assume you are going to query designer via anlyzer, can you directly open the query designer and try to save changes?

5. Is this query assigned to any package or in $TMP package? was this query transported before?

6. Is there any error message displayed?

Thanks,

Swati.

Hi Swati,

Thanks for your Response,

here are the answers.

1. yes it happens for all queries.

2. when i re.open the query nothing is changed, query is unchanged, but when i open same query with new name changes are displayed.

3. i am also in basis in team, my GUI patch level is 11. can you please help me how to find new patch level for Bex.

4. yes i did it, but same issue.

5, no query is not transported, is dev System.

6, there is no error.

Faheem

Hi Faheem,

for question 2, I mean, that when you save the query with new name (e.g. Query 2), close and reopen and then when you open query 2 and try to change query 2 can you save query 2 with changes?

also is the query in $TMP package?

This is either an authorization issue or BEX patch level issue. you can contact SAP for latet Patch level.

Hi Swati,

Yes, when edit query with new name, e.g. Query 2 and save it, changes does not reflect, but when i save Query 2 with Query 3 name, changes are reflected.

These queries are not DEV System , but i don't know how to check that these queries are in $TMP package.

can you tell me what sort of  authorization are needed for such work, so i can add to my user.

Faheem

Hi Faheem,

If it's an authorization issue, try to make a user with BI_ALL authorization and check if error still occurs..

Hi Faheem,

May I know in which system you are trying to edit the query and checking the changes?

Below comments make me think that you are changing the query in Production. Because, you have mentioned queries aren't there in DEV and I assume you are trying to edit/change in QA/Prod system. Please confirm.

Yes, when edit query with new name, e.g. Query 2 and save it, changes does not reflect, but when i save Query 2 with Query 3 name, changes are reflected.

These queries are not DEV System , but i don't know how to check that these queries are in $TMP package.

Normally, developer will not have edit option for the queries which are transported from Dev/QA. But he/she can copy the queries and change it in QA/Prod.

Hope my answer helps you!

Thanks,

Hi Faheem,

Were you able to save the Query2 after edit?

Have you tried editing Query3 after you perform save as from Query2? if you aren't able to change Query3, then we may have to check the issue.

Thanks,

Umashankar

HI Umashankar,

let me explain you the complete procedure what am i doing,

i have some standard query, and according to my need i am editing it, like some restrictions that i want to see on analyzer,

when i edit that query on query designer, changes doesn't reflect on Bex Analyzer, but when i give a new name to that standard query, it gives my reflected data,

then what i did is that, again i made a same changes to that "new query as standard query", and saved it, it does not reflect any change, until i save it with a new name.

Hope now you can get my point.

Faheem

Hi Faheem,

What is the output of changed query, when you execute via RSRT? try generating the report (using option 'Generate Report' ) in RSRT. Then execute query in BEx analyzer.

Thanks,

Umashankar

Hi Faheem,

After saving the changes in your query, you should REASSIGN the query in the analyzer, if it's a workbook, so that changes will take effect..

If it's not a workbook, you should click the CLOSE WINDOW button and REOPEN the query for changes to take effect..

Hi,

Could it be an autorization issue? Do you have change authorization (activity '02') for authorization object S_RS_COMP and S_RS_COMP1?

Best regards,
Sander
