Question about the WS adapter in PI 731 single stack

Former Member

Hi, all

I have just applied SPS14 to the PI 731 system java only(aka process orchestration). According to the sap doc, they have introduced the good old WS adapter for the single stack PI systems. However, I don't see it being listed in the integration builder. Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Jonathan.

You might need to install WINRAR to extract the TPZ eventually from the SDA file inside DeployArchive

Thanks, Sriram.

I didn't know that you have to extract the tpz from the SCA. After I do that, I can see the adapter listed now in the CC screen.

Great. Glad to hear that Jonathan. Do share your experiences on WS_AAE adapter seperately with all of us..I have used the ABAP version and would like to know how the Java version looks like.

Hi, Sriram.

Starting from PI7.3, the XI content of SAP_BASIS is delivered s an SCA file. I know that in 7.11 it was still a tpz. Here is what I saw:

Any other idea?

Thanks,

Jonathan.

Hi Jonathan,

If the below helps you.

Download the relevant content from the SAP Service Marketplace
http://service.sap.com/swdc
-> Support Packages
and Patches
-> A - Z Index
-> E
-> ESR Content (XI Content)

-> XI CONTENT <select the required PI content>
-> XI CONTENT
<select the required release>
-> #Database
independent

  • Unzip the download and copy the *.tpz file to either:

    1. the import directory on the PI file system -
      \usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\global\xi\repository\repository_server\import
    2. any directory on your client pc (available from release PI 7.1x)
  • Logon to the ESR and go to Tools -> Import design objects
  • Select the required *.tpz file and import

Hi Jonathan,

Would suggest checking for the latest available one on SAP Market place or check with SAP via an OSS

Already done that for the whole morning. It's not really urgent for us as the SOAP/HTTP(Axis) adapter works fine for our interfaces against the 3rd party web services. I will open up a ticket with SAP support on this subject.

Thanks,

Jonathan.

Hi Jonathan,

       Please confirm whether the adapter is installed and the latest tpz file is uploaded to the server for import.

      Kindly check Tools ->  Import Design Objects -> Server for the updated basis swcv tpz file to be imported for the WS_AAE adapter in ESR.

Hi, Muru

Where do you download the basis tpz file? I have been looking the whole morning and you can only download the sca file from the ESR XI content page in marketplace. The SCA has already been installed. SAP is getting me more and more confused these days.

Thanks,

Jonathan.

Hi Jonathan,

You are correct. There is a WS Java only adapter that SAP released end of 2014. Please see below link:

It should be present as WS_AAE. Please check and confirm. ALso check the BASIS SWCV in ESR to check if its present. May be the latest SP might not have been installed.

Sriram

Hi,

I also didn't know this new feature. Every day the double stack PI has less points to be used.

Hi, Sriram

No, I don't see the WS_AAE or anything like it listed. When I looked at the XI content SAP_BASIS 731 SP14, it is an SCA and I have already installed it. Still I don't see the adapter listed on the communication channel selection screen.

Any idea?

Thanks,

Jonathan.

Hi Jonathan,

AFAIK - there is no WS adapter in single stack. the single stack has Reliable connectivity b/w BPM & PI/AEX (Alternate to WS-RM).

Hi, Harish.

According to the new features doc in SPS13, a new web service adapter was introduced. Please see the above link. Sorry that I don't know how to insert URL properly after those sap forum developers mess it up.

Thanks

Jonathan.

Hi Jonathan,

you are right and thanks for giving the link. Please check if there is non-central Adapter Engine to your PI system. In case of not central adapter engine check the sp version of all adapter engines.
