Have you tried with IP Address of Server B in Designer?

Most probably, it could be issue with Firewall.

I would also recommend you to confirm the below steps.

  1. Log into the Central Management Console (CMC)
  2. Select 'Servers'
  3. Right click, the Central Management Server, usually called <hostname>.CentralManagementServer and select properties
  4. Update the IP Address or hostname to reflect the external IP address or hostname that the clients can connect to (server.example.com in the above example)
  5. Update the request port (6401
  6. Restart the CMS

Ensure that the request port is open through any firewall that exists between the client and the server.

You will need to repeat the above steps for the Input and Output file repository servers.

If the issue still exist after applying above steps, open the "hosts" file from the following directory in client machine to add server IP address and server name (FQDN):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

Is there a firewall enabled on ServerB? try to telnet from the machine where you have designer to and check if you can connect, eg:

in the command prompt, type telnet ServerB 6400

You need to assign a Request Port to the CMS on serverB fom CMC >>Servers >>Central Management server >>Properties and restart the CMS or SIA on serverB and open that port through firewall.

If above does not work then add the entry of ServerB in the hosts file on Designer machine.

Involve your network team, telnet should work from designer machine else you cannot logon.

According to me it looks like 6400 port is blocked on firewall.
