In which situation the lotsize method and Period type change?

Hi Experts,

I have a doubt regarding the changes takes place in lotsize method and period type in the lotsize tab of MAT1.

1. Under what circumstances the above two fields get change?

2.  If you maintain the lotsize method as periodic lotsize and period type as D,then you can see when you change the MRP controller in ECC the lotsize method will be changed to lot by lot in APO.Why this is happening?

Hi,

The common ECC & APO parameters have to be maintained through the execution system ECC. So, no need to do duplicated entries.

For this reason the ECC's parameters will overwrite the APO's parameters (in your case lot size parameters).

The MRP controller will not influence the lot size parameters!

Thanks.

Hi Marius,

I agreed what you explained but not with the last point" The MRP controller will not influence the lot size parameters" because I have tested it.

Find the scenario.

In APO I changed the lot size  method to Periodic lot size and also changed the Period Type to "D".

Then I changed the MRP controller in ECC.

And I found that immediately lot size method in APO changed to "Lot for lot" in APO.

That's why I am asking how this changes take place and also I want to know what are the other fields (except MRP controller) available in ECC ,by changing whom the lot size method and period Type filed in APO will change.

HI,

I checked the same and getting the same results as yours. Here is the analysis.

The Lot size in ECC PK cannnot be transferred to APO, now when you have the PK in ECC and you have to manually assigned Lot size in APO.

But when you try to change the MRP relevant data in ECC the whole master data is re-transferred to APO (inclduing the lot size) but as PK is not APO relevant the Lot-For-Lot is assigned to Product master in APO.

Hi Anil,

Thanks for the reply.

As you have mentioned "when you try to change the MRP relevant data in ECC the whole master data is retransferred to APO(including the lot size) but as PK is not APO relevant the LOT for LOT is assigned to Product Master"

But my question is we have 3 scenarios.

1. You can see when 1st time we transfer a material to APO then default lot size is LOT for LOT and period type will be empty.

2.You can see when you maintain the lot size method as periodic , period type as D, and we change the MRP controller then lot size will be changed to lot for lot and period type will be as before D.You have already tested this.

3.you can also see when you maintain the lot size method as LOT for LOT or PERIODIC LOT SIZE , period type as K, and we change the MRP controller then lot size method will be as before and also period type will be as before means no change will be there when period type is K.

So according to your statement (written above) when master data is retransferred then it should be LOT for LOT. But I have described in the 3rd scenario it is not taking place according to your statement.

kindly revert.

Hello,

A solution could be to create a lot size profile on APO side with desired APO's parameters. On this way the lot size parameters will not be overwritten during the master data update.

Thanks.

Hi,

First check when you are changing the MRP controller in ECC, what is the lot size in ECC ?

Hi Anil,

When I change the MRP controller in ECC, the lot size maintained in ECC is PK.
