Hi All,

what are the advantages and disadbvantages of hierarchies over nav attributes and vise versa.

Hi,

Hierarchies you use basically if you wish to show your data in a tree structure, however navigational attributes don't give this facility to show your data in such manner.

Navigational attributes are basically used to haver add on information for infoobjects, which is quite handy while drill-down in queries.

Hi,

1. One more thing if you are using more navigational attribute the system performance will be decrease.

2. And you can't create time dipended navigational attribute.

Hi,

Using hierarchy you can get detailed level of information about that object means like interactive reports in ABAP.

By if you want to run a report on attribute that attribute should be the type of navigational attribute means it works like a characteristic.
