CPS standalone migration

Hi all,

is there anyone who have experience with migration from Redwood CPS 8 standalone edition to Netweaver based CPS (version 8 or 9)? Is it possible such a migration? Is there any documentation/migration guide on SCN or SAP Support Portal? I can't find it...

Regards.

Tomas

Hi Tomas,

as far as I understand correctly you want to make a migration from Redwood CPS to SAP CPS and make the change from a Tomcat version to a NW version.

In this case you can use the normal export functions from Redwood and import the car files to the new version. But be in mind, that you must change some names like SAP system or Queues.

This was working on my side.

With best regards

Hi Alfred,

thank you very much for your replay, you understand right.

I'm not so experienced user of CPS, could you please explain it a bit closer?

I have read, that export/import functions are possible only from CPS with full license (not in "free" license provided by SAP). Is that true?

Why is necessary to change SAP system names and Queues?

Hi Tomas,

you are right the export and import functionality is only available in the full licensed version.

So if you want to migrate from a full version to the OEM version than this is not possible.

The change of SAP system names and queues are not direct necessary. This belongs to your environment.

With best regards

Alfred

Hi Thomas,

Sorry, I am quite busy right now. You mean you want to migrate from the PL/SQL-based CPS version 7 to the NetWeaver CPS version 8 or 9? If I were you, I would probably wait for version 9 to be released. AFAIK, this is expected sometime this year.

My understanding is that there is an upgrade service provided by Redwood for this, not quite sure about the details. I would contact your account representative or create an OSS message.

The migration is pretty complex to perform on your own, from what I have heard, if you use the PL/SQL API extensively. If you have just scheduled SAP workload with simple submit frames and time windows it should be pretty easy to recreate the submit frames and time windows in v9, import the SAP jobs into 9, and schedule them from there. If you have custom period functions, PL/SQL or OS workload, though, it might get complicated.
