Afaria access control for email

I'm looking into the configuration of access control for email.

What i haven't understand is if a user is still able to install a third-party email app on his MDM device like Outlook for iOS and synchronize company account with it.

Is Afaria/Exchange capable of seeing the difference between this requests?

With third party apps, other than Nitrodesk (when configured by Afaria) there is no way to get the Access Control ID back from the device. With 7.0 Service Pack 5, Afaria may be able to match based on information passed to exchange when the email client connects, such as the IMEI... so in most cases, it should work.

I think I misread your question initially. Because of the matching that is mentioned above, Afaria would recognize it if "ambiguous matching" was enabled on the MS Exchange page in the Afaria Administrator... disabling that may keep the third party apps from being allowed through. Additionally though, it is possible that the third party app that was used could attempt to use the same ASID that is used by the built in email app and we would not be able to block it because the ASID would match.
