SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)

Hello Oracle experts,

are there any news/updates on Oracle parameter SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES  for systems on Windows Servers?

We would like to change SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES from NTS to NONE.

Unfortunately after this the startdb skripts should be updated after each Kernel update due to "connect / as sysdba".

Are there any workarounds to avoid this?

Thank you!

Hi Alex.

No there, isn't any update. At least nothing I am aware of.

As of my personal experience by changing the parameter to NONE caused issues with OPS$ conenct mechanism, thus "connect /". And not connect /as sysdfba.

Since newer kernel can use both SSFS and OPS, while in 7.40 and onwards I think only SSFS is supported, you can introduce SSFS for ABAP and BR*Tools connections and validate if R3trans -d ca connect perfectly with SSFS.

Useful notes:

1639578SSFS as password storage for primary database connect
1764043Support for secure storage in BR*Tools
1622837Secure connection of AS ABAP to Oracle via SSFS

P.S. Sorry, I could not create the links for the notes as my browser got hanged.

Hello Janos/hello oracle experts,

the vital question is the configuration of db start skript "strdbs" for SAP systems with 7.40 on Windows Server and whether or not SAP will adopt this skript in the future?

Since I find in this skript  "connect / as sysdba" it should be adapted each time after kernel update.

kind regards
