Error in PREP_INSTALL/RUN_RSPTBFIL_SPACE while upgrading stack

Hi Experts,

While upgrading our solman stack from SP04 to SP12 we are facing an issue in  PREP_INSTALL/RUN_RSPTBFIL_SPACE phase like below.

Hi Martin,

We have two options, from my scenario,

1.Reset upgrade using below sap note,

2053877 - Resetting of upgrade after emergency

2. Restore from latest backup.

SAP did not provide assistance?

Since Im facing the same error or two Upgrades from 7.31 to 7.5

Both systems are copies but using different SUM patch levels, nevertheless on both steps failed.

So Im relunctant to restart the upgrade since I would occur again.

Hi Jana ,

Please post  the SM21 and dev_w*  ( the  work process on which the job ran )

Please check the SAP Note

1537798 - RSPTBFIL: NO_ACCESS_TO_DATABASE_CATALOGUE

Thank you for your quick response.. we are unable to find the RSPTBSPACE_PH.ELG log file.

We are going to raise an OSS ticket on the issue.

Hi Jana,

Is this complete job details for RSPTBFIL ? Addition to it could you share system logs from SM21 .I suppose this issue could be due to any Add-On here & suggest you to raise a support ticket as well with SAP.

Hi Rana,

Please find the job log from sm37

Step 001 started (program RSPTBFIL, variant SAP_SPACE, user ID DDIC)

The system outputs this message at the start of every job step and is therefore usually located in a job log.

This message means that step 001 is currently being started. The additional parameters give further details on the step itself:

- the ABAp program executed in this step (here RSPTBFIL)

- the corresponding parameter (here SAP_SPACE)

  If this field is empty, then program RSPTBFIL does not need any parameters.

- the name of the user with whose authorization program   RSPTBFIL is executed (here DDIC)

This is not the error part of the job log. You need to look into the error part or supply the complete log for the job RSPTBFIL. Also check the ALOGxx file in the log directory.

Hi Janardhan,

Try to run the /$sync transaction and retry the step.

Moreover check the job log for RSPTBFIL.

We have executed the above Tx--> /$sync and tried to rerun the SUM tool but no luck. Also we are unable to find the RSPTBFIL log file.

Can you please help us to move forward.

Hi Jana,

If possible try to restart the system & rerun the process.Also refer SAP Note  1678780 - Installation or upgrade BI_CONT/BI_CONT_XT 707/737/747
