When to apply SPAM/SAINT upgrades?

Hello Experts,

We are having a study when to apply SPAM/SAINT based on best practices. We checked on our CVERS tables and found some entries based on component type. We have tabulated entries based on our experience.

Hoping you could shed some of your knowledge.

Hi Manuel,

this is a rather interesting information, but actually there is absolutely no difference in using SPAM/SAINT or SUM regarding the type of the objects/component. You can safely use one or another solution to update your system, the objects type is transparent to the tools.

This is depends on your requirement, if there is a requirement from business to apply new patches for new functionality/bug fix/payroll/legal changes etc. then only you should apply. Nothing to do with best practice. If your systems are stable and there is no requirement from business then no need to apply the patches.

Just for your information, you need to configure solution manager to download the support pack stack and if you not done then please configure.

Hi Sunil,

I think what Manuel is asking is regarding the component types in the CVERS table, whether the component type can be upgraded using SPAM or via calculating the stack file via Solution Manager.

Hi Manuel,

I believe the table above is quite accurate. It would be best to calculate none the less via MOPz to check for any dependencies. I think that will be the best practice on this.
