UCES : Self Registration in UME

Hi All,

Does the standard UCES registration process which calls standard FM (GEN_EBPP_ISR_CREATE_USER) only creates users in ABAP and there is no provision to create users in UME with the standard user registration mechanism.

First of all.... there is no standard process, there are verious options you have. Just the installation guide describes one scenario only, which is basically just the SAP FSCM Biller Direct setup using ABAP for the user management.

So you can either create your users directly in ABAP, UME, LDAP or any other custom implementation. The registration process can on top differentiate between ISR and NON-ISR registrations. So it either does create after registration the user directly in the desired user management environment or a ISR ticket will be created including all necessary information, that someone has approve which then triggers an call at Biller (ABAP -> JAVA) which iniitates the user creation process in the desired user mangement engine e.g. UME.

That whole user mangement process is quite complex and not easy to setup correctly, if you never have done it before. You can easily mix up various scenarios as they are many interfaces, but not supposed to work with each other. Explaining you the whole process would take me days and I am unfortunately not her to give others a training, I focus on helping with actual issues only. If you need training, then you probably have to pay me like everone else because from some points I can't get my salary paid .

Anyway, in B2C scenarios i recommend using UME / LDAP setups.

Hi Andreas,

I had a call with a SAP support consultant in this regard and what he told me is that user creation in UCES will be always be in UME user management irrespective of whatever user management configuration that we choose in XCM.

According to him, the standard function module for User Registration for a NON-ISR scenario will always create the web user in UME.

I think that he is right here because when we created a user manually in SU01 (ABAP), assigned the Ref User and linked the Business master data to the user, still we were not able to login with his ABAP credentials as the user did not exist in UME system. In the login screen, it said  "Authentication Failed."

As soon as we created the same user manually in UME (same userid), we were able to login into UCES with user's UME user credentials and not with his ABAP user credentials  though we had specified FI_User Management in XCM configuration.

Please correct me if I am wrong here.

Hi,

your SAP support consultant is wrong when it comes to being force creating users in UME to access Biller Direct, but right when it comes to that registration process . Keep in mind, the registration process your are using is just designed for a specific usage scenario, but there are other options.

I personally use our fully custom developed logon & registration process, which is still based on the SAP standard interfaces but gives you everything you need to handle 99.99% of all requirements any customer could have today. The processes from SAP are very restrictive and confusing - you can not really control your user bases, have everything automated and keep it clean as you would expect.

Hi Andreas,

We have also developed a custom developed registration process for the UCES users in UME but we have realized that there is a delay (could be because of the syncing of the web users with the BD records in SAP system) due to which the web users are not able to login into UCES app immediately when the account is created.

After sometime, they are able to login to UCES app.

So, Is there a way we can handle this issue.

Not sure how your custom process did work, but I am having always a real time access if setup is done correctly. If you use UCES, you very likely are in a B2C scenario and in those cases I do not want to create ABAP users at all - every scenario except of ABAP user management.

I am facing an error for all the newly created users (created in the UME User Management) when they access the Biller Direct application.

The error message is as follows:

A general problem has occurred within the logon while trying to load from an object array loaded from local variable 'businessObjectType'.

This error message appears right after the logon into Biller Direct and I could not find any error message related to this in the server logs.

This is happening when we are creating the users manually in UME.

This is an Active enrollment case and have assigned the valid business master record to the user in UME.

Moreover, the surprising part is that after sometime, the same users are able to login to Biller Direct without an issue.
