Alerts are not getting generated in PI 7.31

Hi Experts,

We have configured the alert configuration according to the below mentioned blog, however we are not getting any alert mails for the messages failed in AE for communication channel errors.

http://scn.sap.com/community/pi-and-soa-middleware/blog/2012/12/27/component-based-message-alerting-...

We tried the classical Alert Framework configuration too, the same issue, not able to get the alert mails and alerts itself not getting generated.

Checked most of the threads and blogs on alert issues, however yet to fix the issue.

p.s:We tried with RSALERTTEST report and alert category working fine, received alert in email notification.

Thanks & Regards,

Akhila A

Hi Akhila,

In alert configuration uncheck the suppress alerts check box.that could be the issue.

Thank you Subhani.

The job created for the program "SXMSALERT_SEND_VIA_MAIL"  (Consumer:ALERT-TO-EMAIL) is running fine, without any errors.

But still alert mails are not getting triggered.

I have one doubt in my mind, we may need to create a job according the below blog  for communication channel/Adapter Engine error capturing?

Hi Naveen,

Thank you.

Use parameter ALERTING_IS_ACTIVE to switch on alerting for this runtime engine.

Add parameter ALERTING_TARGET and set a value for it in one of the following ways:

  • Set 1 to switch on component-based message alerting. SAP recommends this option.
  • Set 0 in case you want to use the "classic" Alert Framework mechanism. SAP does not recommend this option

Tried for 0, when we want to try with classical configuration, it did not work. Now trying with value 1 for CBAM.

Hi Akhila,

Did you cross check the java mail properties?

Hi Naveen,

Thank you,

We checked those, which looks fine.

Is there any possibility of checking the logs, if any issues in those parameters?

I think you need to go to Alert Inbox and first complete the existing alert before triggering another one for the same interface.

Thanks.

Hi Gaurav,

Thank you,

So far, we could not able to generate a single alert for the errors.

You mentioned above that you were able to create a dummy alert using RSALERTTEST.

Further , try using the report RSALERTPROC for clearing any old alerts if any and then try again.

Thanks

Hi All,

We switch back to classical Alert Framework by setting the below parameters and restarted the machine. Looks like working.

ALERTING_TARGET = 0

XPI Services: AF Core à set the alerting.target =0

I need to verify and I will update you the details.

Thank you.
