SAP BPC 10.. Sysadm console access but user/password not working

I am very new to BPC so bare with me.

We had some contractors build BPC for us and set up the users.  Since then, they have been fired.

BPC is currently  live but very  limited functionality. I tried accessing  the ADMIN CONSOLE through SCIF-->SAP-->EPM_BPC-->WEB but when my SAP log in credentials doesn't seem to work.

How can I get my user/password?(or reset it)

Do you have an SAP Security team that manages security for SAP applications?  If so, then have them confirm your userID and possibly reset your password or unlock it.

Also, you should make sure you have the appropriate rights to access the Admin functionality within SAP BPC.  Once you are in there, make sure you have been assigned to the following three roles within the BPC Admin web client:

PrimaryAdmin

SecondaryAdmin

SystemAdmin

Let me know if this was helpful or resolves your issue.

We don't have security team.

For my user , we have -SAP_BPC_SYSADMIN and SAP_BW_CONTENT_ADMIN roles assigned as shown on screenshot.

can you be more clear where I find the three roles you speaking off?

The screenshot you provided is for "pcruz" but not for you.  Are you trying to get this to work with your profile or the other user's profile?

The three roles I mentioned are specifically defined / assigned in the BPC Web Admin client.  You should be able to find this at a path that looks similar to this:

http://[Server]:[Port]/sap/bpc/web/

This is where you would go to assign those rights:

Do you have a Basis team that helped with the software installation, or was this all done by the team that has been fired?  If you have a Basis team that assisted with this, then they might be able to help you with the security piece as well as telling you what the URL is for your BPC Web Admin client.

hey Jeff

Thanks for yout detailed help. The problem is that I can't get to the screenshot you provided. When I try to log in , It says I dont have the right credentials. Also, I provided the wrong screenshot, but my roles are exactly the same as "PCRUZ"

I can get to the URL through transaction SCIF-->SAP-->EPM_BPC-->WEB-->Test Service so I dont think I have the wrong URL

I have 1 basis guy but he knows as much as I do which is very little about BPC.

whats odd is that we have DEV and PRD servers for BPC. When I try acess BPC console from Dev system, I am able to log in with the same user/password I have been given to access SAP(the user/password that alows to log in to SCIF transaction screen which is BW). I am just can't seem to access PRD.

Juan,

Have you compared your user profile in your DEV BW instance compared to your user profile in your PROD BW instance?

Also, I believe you can unlock / reset your password in BW from your user profile, but that's an area I do not work in.

Let me know what differences you see between DEV and PROD?

Lastly, can anyone get into the PROD URL for BPC?  You should compare your profile with them.

Right after I wrote , my previous message, I realized that the URL was wrong. For some reason, It was pointing to 100, rather then 300. so I changed it and ran it, and now I am in the BPC web console.

The problem I am seeing now is that the ADMINISTRATION tab that it shows on your screenshot  is not available for me as you can see.

How can I get the administration tab?

thanks

If someone has the three Admin task profiles assigned to their profile, they can assign you to the same three Admin task profiles.  If there is no one with the three Admin task profiles that you know of, then you need to get access to SAP_ALL in the BW layer so you can then log back in to the BPC web.

Then, you should have access to the Administration capabilities, go in to Security, and assign yourself to the three Admin task profiles for whatever environments you should have access to (if you have more than one environment / appset in PROD).  Then, you can consider removing the SAP_ALL access.

Thanks. Got it to work. One issue was URL was set up incorrectly and the other  was that I was trying using Chrome / IE 11.

I switched IE 11 to 'emulation mode' to IE 9 and I am able to see the 'Administration' tab!

Next question :

we have a BPC user that we trying to install EPM BPC excel plug in for. She is BPC user that had her BPC excel working in the past but IThelpdesk had to reformat her computer.

While installing BPM BPC excel plug in , one of the steps, requires to create a connection (screenshot 1). I can provide them them the URL  but what would the user/password be?BPC? or BW?

This user "VESVAL1" does not have a SAP BW user account in transaction SU01 but she does exist under BPC administration(screenshot 2).

Juan,

The username / password would be defined in the BW instance that BPC sits on.  If you have other BW instances, then it may not necessarily be the same as the other BW instances.

I do not know how VESVAL1 exists in BPC without existing in the backend BW, unless you are possibly looking at the wrong instance of BW.  My understanding of the process is that the user has to exist in BW in order to "pull" them into BPC security.

On a side note, does BBEECHLER stand for Brian Beechler?  Was he one of the consultants that was there before you?

haha.

Yes I believe so. He was here from Answerthink for our  BPC implementation.

I am not a consultant. I am the in house  SAP developer but we dont have the resources here for BPC, so I am just trying to figure this out.

We only have 1 PRD instance. so I am almost 100 % certain its correct instance.

Below is the all the users in BW instance.

I am thinking maybe we use BPC_USER? because role is SAP_BPC_USER.

and somehow we can connect VASVAL1 user to this role/user?

I'm still not sure how you would assign a user in BPC to a user in BW, though, so I don't know how you would connect VASVAL1 to a different user profile in BW called BPC_USER.

You would probably do well to create a separate thread related to setting up users in BPC since you now have access to the BPC Admin in the web, which was your original issue.  You might get better visibility from other experts, that way.

you were right all along. They were using the DEV system and all the users were under SU01. We never went live with PRD .

thanks for your help.
