Hello experts,
On trying to logon via a web browser (with http://localhost:8000/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui?sap-client=001 ) I get the correct logon page:
However, after providing the logon credentials and clicking the Log On button I get the following page:
And then nothing happens, no error message, no timeout, nothing...it just stays there for hours on end.
The system details are: SAP NetWeaver 7.3 Trial on Windows 7 (64 bit)
The database is SAP MaxDB
And the browsers tried are: Internet Explorer 11, Firefox 35 and Chrome 40.
Please let me know what needs to be done to get this working.
[The system works perfectly well via a SAP GUI Logon].
Many thanks in advance.
Kind regards
Sanjay
Please run this report in SE38
RS_TT_CLEANUP_SECSTORE . Check once again in SECSTORE .
Try " SIAC_PUBLISH_ALL_INTERNAL" after that
Thanks ,
Manu

Adding this, just in case I have to revisit this post again...
First the SGEN experience:
Once the SGEN was done, I started the webgui on IE 11 as before. Now, it logged me on without issues but no options on the screen were visible. And the application bar was totally unresponsive. Now what? I thought the SGEN has messed up something. Checked all the settings and services previously carried out, nothing was changed.
I tried with Firefox. Everything was working as expected. The same with Chrome.
Tried with IE11 again--no difference. Then I thought of using the compatibility mode. And lo and behold it was working again!
So I am left wondering what happened between the time I ran SGEN and came back to try the webgui that the IE11 has started to need the compatibility view?
Well, I think I'll live with this for now...

The takeaways being:

Thank you all once again.

Thanks guys for all your help.
Manu you are a star! Thanks for helping me out.
So just to recap:
[Should the documentation team of SAP NetWeaver Trial packs be made aware of this so that they could update the documentation accordingly, so that first time users like me are clear with the requirements? And how does one do that?]
Kind regards
Sanjay

Hi Manu,
I am slightly lost here.
SWPM -- does it stand for Software Provisioning Manager?
I have installed the NetWeaver using the installation pack I downloaded from store.sap.com.
How do I access the SWPM?
I wasn't able to see anything in the SAP Delivery Tool for this intallation related to feedback mechanism.
Maybe I am missing something.
Thanks
Sanjay
Hi Sanjay ,
For error (1 ) - can you go to TXN SECSTORE execute and check for any errors . If possible please send a screenshot
For (2 ) - Please add the server instance in RZ12 against parallel_generators
Thanks ,
Manu

Hi Manu/Pavan,
Many thanks for your help.
I have two problems at the moment:
1. As I tried to complete the steps detailed in the GUI HTML access doc. link above, most of the things were already done. I had to add the login parameters.
However, trying to run the last step (16) I got a short dump:
2. Trying to run SGEN for SAP_BASIS leads me to this:
And I am unable to select this (possibly because the Status is red which might in turn be because the server has not been set up for parallel processing).
And there is no change to the Web login behaviour.
I suspect there are some more settings that need to be done before I can proceed with this issue.
Thanks
Sanjay

Hello Sanjay,
Did you activated all the services on the SICF inside the folder /sap/bc/gui/sap/its/? You need to activate some other services on the /sap/public/ folder too.
Also you can use Fiddler to do a HTTP trace and check which services are not activated or where you have the issue.
Best regards.

Hi Sanjay ,
Did you run SGEN after the system installation/upgrade
Thanks,
Manu

Hi Manu,
This is my first time of installing a NetWeaver system. I have not run SGEN. I was going by the installation documentation which was part of the NetWeaver install pack. The installation instructions said:
"After installing the application server you can log into the system via web gui at http://localhost:8000/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui?sap-client=000 with user bcuser you created."
So I presumed that everything that had to be done is done. Obviously not.
Now the documentation on SGEN talks about activities after an upgrade. Does it also mean it needs to be carried out after a Fresh install? I would have thought it was part of the install process (?).
Which option of SGEN do I choose? All objects, after upgrade or for BSP only?
Thanks
Sanjay
Hello,
Executing the SGEN transaction is recommended but not mandatory. If you execute the Web GUI after finishing the installation and before executing the SGEN transaction the only problem that can appear is that the Web Gui will take more time in order to open, but it will open if the configuration is finished correctly.
Now you said that when you open the Web GUI it runs for hours, so your issue is not related with the SGEN transaction. Probably there are some services that are not activated on the SICF transaction, of the FQDN is not correctly defined, etc.
Best regards.
