historical vs. current view of infobject model ?

Hello BW Experts,

How would you handle a request to report on historical vs. current view of data for a specific InfoObject (e.g., a Material's material group - both historical and current views)?

one possible solution

I got suggestions to use it as a characteristic in the cube and also nav attr (if possible time dependent). I am not sure I understood the solutions. could anyone explain this.

wondering if there is any other possible way of doing this.

Hi,

If you want to keep in the cube historical value of the char, go for a seoarate char in the cube.

If you use approach with a nav time-dependent attribute, you don't have to include it into the cube. Its value is to be determined during query run according to key date of the query. It means that only the last value (according to key date) will be shown. In this case you'll loose historical value.
