DS IDT accessing Function Module

I have created a universe using IDT and we are not able to get it to work in Design Studio using server.  It works locally and in WEBI.  Any help would be great.

We have created a function module in our BW system for AL08
data (who is on the system). We are trying to build a dashboard with various
system information: who is logged on, what transactions they are running, what
jobs are running, etc.

Actually I was wrong - It appears that SAP ERP system is a valid connection:

If you are using the jCo ERP Driver to pull FM data, I don't think that type of connection is supported in Design Studio.

Is the SAP system that you are connected to a version that has the BW module available?  You could always place a Transient Provider there and then simply access the cube/BEx Query via standard BW/BICS connection type.
