Project User Group

Hi all,

I have created a new Project User Group and added users to it.

I have then added the user group in a projects Authorization with "Resource Manager" checked on.

What I now expect is, that the user added to the Project User Group, would see the Project in the Staffing Overview, but the project does not appear and the user can't find it when searching for it.

If I add the user directly in the authorization with Resource Manager checked on, the project appears in the staffing Overview.

Am I mistaken in my assumptions on how these Project User Groups should work?

Br,

Morten

Hi Morten,

the problem is known. The codes of resource manager (belongs to portfolio management) considers only two types of authorization (User + Org.Unit), while the project management consider all the four authorizationstypes.

Gute news is, the SAP is evaluating it at oment and may enhance it for the next release.

Kind regards,

Zhenbo

Hi again Zhenbo,

I just realized that this of course means that I can't even assign a PFCG role to all resource manager users and then in the Project Definitions ACL assign the PFCG role with "Resource Manager" checked on??

Hi Morten,

no, I re-checked it, M´my fault. The portolio management consider only ( User + Roles) not  (User + Org.Unit) as I mentioned before.

That means, assign roles with 'Resource manager' should work.

Kind regads,

Hi Morten,

my experience for the Staffing and Resource Overview (in Navigation of Resource Management) is as follows:

- Create a resource pool in the admin view (Portfolio and Project Administration)

- Assign a resource manager to the resource pool

Only the assigned resource managers of a resource pool may see data in the Staffing and Resource Overview.

The authorization of "Resource Manager" within a project allows a user or the users of a defined user group to search and assign resources to a project role or task.

So the significant differences are:

1) Staffing and Resource Overview only as defined resource manager of a resource pool.

2) Resource Manager authorization (for single user or user groups) within a project is to search and assign resources within a project.

Hope it clears a bit.

regards

Darijo
