Hi Experts,

I've received a requirement with the goal: "Migration of BEX 3.5 workbooks & queries to BO analysis".

I need to plan the time of this activity but unfortunately I've never worked with BO analysis.

Has anyone worked with some activity like that and could give some tips?

I realy apreciate your help.

Many thanks.

César Sevilha.

It's a very straight forward exercise to migrate BEx 3.5 workbooks to Analysis. We had a 99% success rate with only minimal intervention...

It was an end user exercise to convert their own workbooks.

These are the steps we took:

  1. Create a role for users to save their workbook in and assign it to them
  2. Save the workbook from within BEx 3.5 to the role
  3. Close the BEx session
  4. Launch the Analysis Add-In
  5. From the File menu in Excel, select Analysis > Convert BEx Workbook.
  6. Connect to the BW system where the workbook was saved
  7. Locate the folder you saved the workbook in and select the workbook > click OK
  8. The conversion process starts and may take several minutes depending on the number of queries within the workbook
  9. You can switch off the refresh option to speed up the conversion

Save the workbook. We don't as a rule save workbooks on the BW server, but rather locally.

Hope the above helps,

Stephen
