Unable to configure NWDS in 64 bit system

Dear Experts

I am facing a problem whenever I am trying to install NWDS in my 64 bit system , as it is required its compatible JDK or JRE (Error msg is attached) . But the same version of NWDS and JDK has been installed in my friend's 32 bit system.

What versions of NWDS and JDK/JRE is needed for my 64 bit Windows7 system and from where will I get?

Please help me.

Hi,

Please install JDK6 & JRE6 of 32bit version, You can get it from sun java's website.

(Java Archive Downloads - Java SE 6)

After installing 32bit jdk & jre, create the System Variable as shown in below procedure;

Right click on,

My Computer > select Properties > Select Advanced system settings > Select Environment Variables > Under System variables create a New variable e.g JAVA_PATH and give variable value: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_45\bin

After doing so go to your NWDS folder and open the SapNetweaverDeveloperStudio - configuration setting file and mention jdk entry like;

-vm
C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_45\bin
-startup

P.s: Uninstall previous versions of jdk & jre if any before installing the jdk6 & jre6 (32bit).

Try this and revert.

                 Atlast I have installed NWDS successfully in my system. It was not a problem for 64 bit system rather the incompatibility of JDK ,as so many JDK versions I have tried in my system, and my sys was taking upper version of JDK instead of setting the manual path as Mr. Dipen Pandya has told.

After lots of experiment the JDK path which was compatible with NWDS is

C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_38\bin

Today I discovered the isuue, and solved it, thanks to Dipen Pandya and all of you for your valuable answers.

Although this thread has already been answered, I just want to share my experience in installing and working on NWDS.

The following link is a consolidated Wiki on installation of NWDS across the different versions of XI/PI/PO. Right towards the end, it states that no matter the version of the OS, the JDK has to be 32 bit.

Even though I have tried with Sun/Oracle's 32-bit Java 1.6 JDK, I find that there were still issues here and there when running NWDS, in particular, message mapping functionality seems a bit buggy.

I have found since then that using SAP's own JVM 1.6 is the best JDK. It can be found in the NWDS download location from the link above. I recommend using that to have the least buggy NWDS experience.

Hi Gourab,

As suggested abv, you can use the 32 bit Java on your 64 bit Windows without any issues.

Actually I am using nwds-extsoa-7.3-SP02-PAT0003-win32 in my 64 bit system may be these version of NWDS is not supported in my system.

Is there any another version of NWDS is required in my 64 bit system ?

Fyi,

All versions of NWDS are fully supported to 64bit Operating System.

Kindly go through the above suggested steps & after that refer to the link provided by Azhar.

                   I have seen the link but all the discussions are over 32 bit system there. But I am using a system of 64 bit windows7.

But I am not getting any relevant links of 64 bit system.

Hi Gourab,

You Need to install 32 bit version for your 64 bit version system. It'll work.
