Transfer posting to be block - Material movement from Block to Unrestricted stock – 343 Mvt Type

Hello Experts, Please help me to find the solution to restrict Material transfer posting “Directly from Block to Unrestricted Stock” Case – At the time of Inspection lot Usage decision (QA32), stock moved to “Block Stock”, but stock can be move directly to “Unrestricted stock” using the movement type “343” Here, Business wants system should NOT allowed moving “Block Stock” directly to “Unrestricted Stock” Solution which I have proposed is to remove the authorization of mvt 343. Please suggest any other work around as business can’t remove mvt type authorization as this will help them to move other Non – Inspected material stock from Block to Unrestricted. Thanks in advance!!!

I think the solution (removing authorization of 343 movement type) should work here! As far as I recollect, there exist few authorization objects based on movement type and even storage location. To ensure smooth functioning 343 for other types of materials you should have separate storage location for them. Then based on movement type AND storage location values restrict the authorizations to appropriate users. As result of that 343 can be executed for location A but not for B.

Hi Mayur,

If business feels a risk of moving "Blocked" stock directly to "Unrestricted" stock, for Q-managed materials, then you can check the below things.

i) Add inspection type 08 in your materials - activate post to inspection stock checkbox, and add the "Active" indicator.

ii) Use  MB1B/MvT349 and then post your blocked Q-managed stock. It will create inspection lots of type "08".

iii) Again use UD = A or UD = R and move the stock to unrestricted or blocked stock. This will serve as a 2nd level validation on QM materials to move on...!!

Net net what I mean to say is - use MvT 349 for Q-managed materials, and use MvT 343 for non-Q managed materials, if this approach is applicable. Manage this process using SOP's and control it.

Next time, if you still wish to move stocks directly using MvT 343, your As-Is config setup will be fine with your process.

Hi Mayur,

Not sure if that is possible through standard ways.

Saying that, there is no harm in checking for any Screen Exit to revalidate if the concerned material is managed with inspection type "08" or not and then allow the subsequent stock posting, if it is missing. Else, if it is there, then through error.

It mat be a preferable option using screen exit (rather than user exit) which will validate the reason and throw errors before hand than submitting for 'Save".

Your issue is very common and normally business manages usage of MvT's with SOP's available in plants. So we have not tried this above option.

You can try my suggestion and suggest if that way you can put a technical fix to this problem as well.

Other than what Shailendra has said, I see this issue with a different angle.

Let assume quantity is not posted to block directly from QI, but rather we need to consider those cases where QI stock will be posted to Blocked stock after UD. Now this blocked stock is later on moved to Unrestricted using mvmt type 343.

If this is the scenario you are talking about, I do have a question here,

• What would be done with this blocked stock? You anyway would need to move this quantity sometime.

Or else, if the situation is what already been said, then Shailendra has already suggested you the solution to this.

Hello Nitin, Your understanding is correct, After usage decision stock move to Block Stock for rework. Later on stock move to Inspection stock using transaction MB1B mvt. 349 (blk to Insp) only. But, Here user will have authorisation of Mvt 343 (Blk to Unrestricted) by using this movement type Stock direclty move to Unresticted stock which is not appceptable to Business. So, Question is how to restrict transfer posting - Material movement from Block to Unrestricted stock – 343 Mvt Type Directly. Business wants system should NOT allowed moving “Block Stock” directly to “Unrestricted Stock” also. Thanks

Hello,

Goto QS51 and change the setting of UD code. As you mentioned that after UD stock directly moved to Block it means setting is there in selected set where against UD Code Move to block is assigned, so just change it to UNRES instead to BLOCK.
