SAP Business Intelligence Live Office

I am attempting to install Business Objects Live Office on my machine and am getting an error that states

"Microsoft Office XP and later applications: Excel, Word, Outlook or PowerPoint must be pre-installed"

Then the installation quits.

I have done some research on this and from what I have seen Live Office is not supported by Microsoft 2010, which is installed on my computer.

People have stated that a workaround would be to install Microsoft Office 2007, install Live Office, and then uninstall Office 2007.

Another workaround that I have seen is to actually edit the LiveOffice.msi file.

I do not want to have to actually edit the msi file at this point.

Is there anything that you could point out to me that may help solve this issue?

Thank You,

which Version of Live Office are you using? The latest one (Live Office 4.1 SP5) supports Office 2010.

      Hi John,

It is best to start off with the BO patch level.

Please also add what is the service pack of XI 3.1 being used? SP3, SP5, etc.?

The next step would be to check its PAM / Supported Platforms guide.

We also need to check the "client" OS level.

For 3.1, I've seen MS Office 2010 is supported from as early as XI 3.1 SP3 FP (fix pack) 4.

However, it also states that the client OS needs to be atleast WinXP SP3 Professional (SP2 is crossed out).

On the other hand, XI 3.1 SP7 doesn't support Windows XP but also supports Office 2010.

So you'd have to ensure that the Client OS and the Office version both are supported for your given SP.

On another note, I'd also try to install with an ADMIN user to make sure the installer has rights to access all dependent files/libraries.

      Hope this helps 😊
