Qlik in Business Objects?

Hi,

Does Business Objects portfolio have similar product to QlikView? Right now we are using BO platform for business intelligence reporting (formatted, adhoc, and scheduled). We are exploring for a product that offers same functionality as QlickView. Thanks!

What about SAP BO Design Studio? Does it offer any functionality like QlikView Dashboards? 

Otherwise what is Design Studio for? Is it replacing Dashbaords(Xcelsius)?

Hi,

broadly speaking Yes, it's Xcelsius successor . the area of future investment

Design Studio is heavily IT-focussed application design environment (not for end-user development), typically suited for large enterprises who work against trusted OLAP datasources like BW or HANA

We have explored Lumira two months back but it's expensive for medium enterprise like us. It requires HANA installation.

I have explored both Qlik and Design Studio demo versions, it looks both have similar design interface. Why Lumira closer solution to Qilk rather than Design Studio? Is it because of inmemory capability in Lumira?

It's all confusing with choosing products from Explorer, Design Studio, Lumira, and Dashboards.

Hi,

SAP is shortly to release what is effectively a non-HANA version of Lumira server (for SME) called "Lumira Edge" (tbc).

With regards to product evolution, and the areas of future investment:

• Lumira is the successor to Explorer
• Design Studio is the successor to Dashboards

Note that Lumira is a self-service data discovery & visualisation tool; whist Design Studio is a IT-focused design environment for developing corporate dashboards and mobile apps.

As it happens, there is planned an 'interoperability' workflow between DS and Lumira .
