Prompts

I am creating a report with multiple sub reports, I need the report to prompt for a certain client. The client should stay the same throughout all the sub reports. Do I have to do a prompt for each sub report or is there a way to do 1 prompt for all sub reports?

    1.  Create a prompt in the main report.

    2.  In the Subreport Links for each subreport, link FROM the prompt in the main report TO the appropriate field in the subreport.

That should take care of it for you.

    • In the Subreport Links screen do the following:

      1.  In the top left, select the parameter or field from the main report and move it to the top right.

      2.  On the bottom right, turn off "Select data in subreport based on field".

      3.  On the bottom left, drop down the list under "Subreport parameter field to use" and select the parameter from the subreport that you want to link to.

Repeat these three steps for each of the parameters you want to link to then click on "OK".  The subreport parameters will now be set based on the parameter values from the main report.
