ESS Role - Customizing Infotype

Former Member

Hello Experts,

The ESS role contains P_ORGIN with infotypes customizing infotype and no further restrictions. The user need access to backend role which contain this infotype for some restricitons P_ORGIN to certain employee subgroups. The dilemma is that P_ORGIN assigned through the ESS role would override the restriction for the employee subgroup of infotype 9000 enforced by the ESS role…

Is it a way to do something with customizing infotype? Because for standard infotype we gave in ESS role ‘ ‘ and this is working well because the check is done on P_PERNR object. But not for customizing infotype…

Any SAP Guru know if there are a way?

Thanks!!

Hi Vinothkumar

ESS is for employee own access.... why would the ESS access need P_ORGIN at all? Wouldn't P_PERNR include for the infotypes theys can read/write to be sufficient and then an exclude for values you don't want them to update?

I'm not sure what your other role is for, but sounds like the ESS has to much access or it contains more than ESS.

Maybe I missed something..

Hi Colleen,

The application on ESS is to read special information save in infotypes 9026 & 9025 and their manager can change these infotypes through the portal application. And if you don’t give P_ORGIN, we get a blank page in the portal we need to have in ESS role P_ORGIN to read the date….

I was wondering if it’s not on the way we create these infotypes, if there are a way to run them as standard infotypes…

Do you know if there are special setting in the custom infotype?

Thanks!!
