How the Platform Search application indexing work in Cluster and Non Cluster environments.

Currently i am facing issue in DEV ENV(Installed both app and web servers in same box) and my QA is Cluster environment. why it is giving issue in DEV alone not in QA.

Can any one give me the major diference between Cluster Environmnts and Non Cluster environments.

Thank you,

Venkat,

Could you please check and compare below for ur DEV and QA env.

CMC->Application->Platform Search. "LEVEL of Indexing"

is it Platform meta data?Full context ?

Is it same for both for the envrinments?

Thanks for your response.

I have done the comparision for both the DEV and QA  env and the both are same indexing level.

CMC->Application->Platform Search. "LEVEL of Indexing" is Full context in both the environments.

Thank you,

Venkat

Platform search will work similar fashion in Clustered environment. There is conceptually no difference in the way Indexing works in Clustered and non clustered environments. viz. Masters index, content store and surrogate files will be put in same locations.

Note for clustered environments:

  • Master index location / Temporary index location can be located on a network Fileshare.
  • There can be many APS containing PSS (APS- PSS Adaptive Processing Server containing Platform Search Service) who share single master index location (extracted from from search application settings).
  • If you have to troubleshoot, start with metrics of each APS-PSS and look for the number of indexed documents that are noted per APS-PSS.
  • Many-times it is found to be better to use single APS-PSS on a single node and use it on scheduled crawling basis. (it has also worked in fairly huge environments )

Hi,

the indexing needs to be configured correctly. Please note that the Search function has massivley improved with SAP BI 4.1. Maybe you should go for an Update.

Please note that SAP BI 4.0 will go out of mainstream maintenance support on 12/31/2015.

Maybe the following can help you:
