Hello,
Could anyone kindly advise how to configure search strings to pick up specific text(customer name) on a particular line in the uploaded BAI2 file (the line always starts with 88,ORG2:) and populate the SGTXT field in fbl3n with all text after ORG2: on that line?
so for example: on line 6 of a (16,)bank transaction in the BAI2 file to be uploaded we have
16, 10012015, 48090654356888,39832
88, ORG2: Please help with this issue Ltd
The search string targets/populates the SGTXT field with just "Please help with this issue Ltd " ignoring all the characters before and after so when you run an fbl3n report you could actually see the customer name in the Text field.
Seen a few similar questions and answers none of them have brought any joy so far.
I think the main area I have problems with is the screen when I need to add BDC Value, Fields etc
Appreciate any assistance
Thanks
Jay
Hi Jay,
Since your requirement is to skip first 59 characters and pick the text from 60th character. I don't think it is feasible due to restriction of 32 character in search string definition.
Try once the start of line and end of line functionality to populate the desired text.

Hi Jay,
If i am not wrong, you want to populate entire text after ORG2: in the text filed? If yes...please change your search string to ORG2:?????????????
“ ? “ ANY CHARACTER
To identify the string in case any character (alphabets, number, special characters, alphanumeric string, space etc.)

THanks Sitaram, you are correct but I get that part of the process, it's the next step of assigning the captured text to the SGTXT field in fbl3n that is my main issue.
so basically I don't know what to input in the 2nd sub dialog in that Define search string for ebs transaction screen(s_alr_87099795) to make the results of the search string appear in the SGTXT field.
would appreciate if you can list the values to be input in each of the fields in that area like BDC value etc
thanks
J
Dear Jay,
Once the search string is defined (As stated by Mr. Sitaram), go to search string use in dialogue structure, and provide the following details:
1. Company code.
2. House Bank
3. Account ID
4. External Key and +/-sign
5. Search String Name - Which you have created as the defination.
6. Actiavte it
7. Use the target field as BDC2 Field Name
8.Mapping Prefix - BSEG-SGTXT.

Sumti Bhadani
Hi Sumti, the text line appears on the bseg-SGTXT field in fbl3n or fb03 which is restricted to 50 characters, however the part of the text required (customer name text) starts on about the 60th character which means it doesn't appear on the SGTXT field because of its 50 character restriction Of sgtxt. The idea is to create a search string to pick up only certain text containing the customer name from the bank reference in the bai2 file and populate the SGTXT field with it
thanks
J
Dear Jay,
Please confirm if you mean that in the line ""Please help with this issue Ltd " you want only the company name i.e Issue Ltd to come in the text field. If yes, please confirm the starting text is always same for all the this type of lines for eg in this case it starts with "Please help with this"

Sumti Bhadani

Hi Sumti,
i just want every thing after ORG2: populated in the Text (sgtxt)field. so in the above example, we are assuming "Please help with this issue Ltd" is the full name of customer- it could be anything as long as the search string picks up all characters immediately after ORG2: on that line.
These lines always start with 88, ORG2: in every instance.
hope this clarifies your query
thanks
Jay
