Project not created automatically after creation and save of Portfolio item

Hi All,

we are in the process of building PPM 6.0 system wherein we are facing the issue. By standard when Portfolio item is created project should be created automatically. However in our case even after creation and save of portfolio item project is not getting created. Although Portfolio item gets created but associated project is not getting created.

Can anybody guide us on this...

Hi Sudhir,

Configuring PS project creation directly from item is required when creating only PS Project but not cProjects Project. In your case, you need both. So, do the following.

1. Do all the configurations such that cProjects Project is created from the Portfolio Items.

2. Define a Project profile 'CPR0001' in SAP PS.

3. Do all the configurations such that PS Project is created automatically from cProjects Project (like Activating account integration at cProjects Project type etc.)

Automatic creation of PS projects will happen with Project profile 'CPR0001'. However, 'CPR0001' is not delivered in the standard system. We need to create it.

Can you please let me know the configurations to create cProject projects from the portfolio

item?

In our case we are getting error message as ' An error occurred while connecting to accounting system'

how do you create an item? Using item template or using item type?

Depends on the answer, please check the customizing

Portfolio Management

  Activate Business Content Data Sources

    Global Customizing

      Portfolio-Independent Settings

            ---   Map Item Template to Project Template or PS Project

            ---   Map Item Type to Project or PS

Anyway, the maintained project template should appear in the drop-down list 'Project Management Template' of the 'Create item' overview.

If the template does not appear in the dropdown liste, please double check customizing above.

If  the template appear, but still no PPM project get created. You can test with creation of a PPM project with that template directly (not from item).

   - If you have problem with creation of PPM project directly too, then it is some problem with the PPM project settings. At this moment, you can forget the item customizing, rather you need to check PPM project customizing.

-- If you do able to create the PPM project directly, but failed to create it from Item, there may be some problems with the interface calls.

Hi Sudhir,

The error 'An error occurred while connecting to accounting system' will appear while PS Project is being created. This error can be resolved using the transaction 'COCPCPR' in the backend.

Hi Sudhir,

Can you confirm that you have:

1. Activated the relevant switches under 'Override Default Global Settings',

2. Maintained your Portfolio Item types with the correct configuration

3. Maintained the mappings between your Item type/template and PS template/s?

4. Maintained the Object Link Types correctly ?

Please take a look at the above areas and let me know of particular areas should you have any questions. We can then take it down to more detail

Hi Chatsworth,

- I have activated master switch as per OSS note 1427365 i.e. area 0002 & name 0007

- Maintained Portfolio item type with colmn 'Link to project system' having value Project System and indicators NoAutoPro and Factor activated

- Maintained configuration for Item template to Project template to Project Template and also Item template to PS project under configuration node 'Map item Template to Project template or PS project

- Under configuration node 'Map item type to Project templates' maintained assignement to item type to project template, item type to project type, item type to PS project and then Item type to PS profile

- In common functions maintained objects for syncronization setting with source grouping as Portfolio item to project definition with Inactive column having value 'False'.

However I didn't understand when you said Object ink type. Can you please elaborate on that?

Also I could manually assign the project to Portfolio item but automatically it is not happening..

Can you suggest the correct Object link type. I suspect I may be wrong in configuring Object links type.
