What is the difference between keeping the prompts in universe level and webi report level?
I am connecting hadoop DB with Business objects, where my data's are very high. Need to know how to fetch only the records what i need from the prompts, so what will happen if i keep the prompts in universe or webi report.
The only difference in the above scenario is the fact that you can reuse the prompts in other reports. From the perspective of a universe vs a webi report prompt (when not considering something like BW) is the same.
The code is generated and sent to the DB to execute there. If you were using BEX queries then there is a big difference.
If we are using same prompts in the different reports (globe prompts), you can develop prompts in the universe so data also restrict at the database level.
If any local prompts, use only for the respective report, then develop at the report level.
