Transport targets and multiple SLD

HI

We are doing Production Cutover activities. We are transporting directly from DEV to PRD.

We have two SLDs for both Prodction and Development.

Where do I have to create ttransport target ? In DEV SLD or PRD SLD?

In DEV SLD we have all technical systems. For example I have the technical systems of both DEV and PRD ECC systems in DEV SLD. Howevr I don't have the business sytems of both DEV and PRD ECC systems.

Can I create a Buis ystem for ECC production technical system in DEV SLD with the same name of the ECC Business system maintained in PRD SLD and do the transport target in DEV SLD?

Hi Harish,

Your Configuration will be like:

In Dev SLD

  • One Technical System of DEV ECC(pushed via RZ70)
  • One Business System of this ECC Technical System.

In Prd SLD:

  • Two Technical System(One for Dev ECC and other for Prd ECC pushed via RZ70)
  • Two Business System for the corresponding Technical Systems.
  • Here in the Prd Business System, in Transport Tab you have to add Dev ECC Business System as Source

Follow this and it will work fine.

Hi Harish,

Where do I have to create ttransport target ? In DEV SLD or PRD SLD?--It should be in PRD

In DEV SLD we have all technical systems. For example I have the technical systems of both DEV and PRD ECC systems in DEV SLD. Howevr I don't have the business sytems of both DEV and PRD ECC systems.-----You can create business systems for these as well, but what will matter is the business system for Dev

Can I create a Buis ystem for ECC production technical system in DEV SLD with the same name of the ECC Business system maintained in PRD SLD and do the transport target in DEV SLD---You need to create transport target in PRD SLD where it will be stated that if the Business system is DEV, then resultant target business system in Production is PRD.

Hope this clarifies.Let me know in case of any queries.

HI Sriram,

We already created Transport Target in DEV SLD. So what should we do now? Shoiud we change the DEV SLD configuration or should we do it in PRD SLD again?

Hari,

PRD SLD transport group can be used to perform a file transport from Dev to PRD. Link (As mentioned by Amit, above).

Maintaining business system transport group in PRD SLD will translate DEV BS to PRD BS.

Hello,

>>Where do I have to create ttransport target ? In DEV SLD or PRD SLD?

You have to maintain transport targets in Prod SLD.

Edited - the blog mentioned above of for central SLD but it will show u how to maintian gropus and Transport targets. In ur case, just do import/export of Dev sld to Prod so that dev TS/BS (along with SWCV and Product comes to Prod SLD) and then u can define transport targets accordingly.

Thanks
