Fixed Lot Size Vs Recipe/BOM Header Quantity (Base Quantity)

I was wondering if a material has a fixed lot size (FX) on MRP1 of the material master does that override the master recipe and BOM header quantities (base quantity) for MRP planning. Or will the master recipe base quantity still guides the capacity plan.

Hello Rahul

When a fixed lot sizing procedure is defined on the material master, MRP will create planned orders according to this value.

The base quantity of the master recipe is not used by MRP for lot size calculation at all.

Thank you Caetano. I am looking at my data migration files but the base quantities seem to be different from fixed lot size defined on the material master. I will make sure that recipes and BOM matches material master value.

Hi Rahul

Both quantities does not need to match. The base quantity is generally used make easier the input of the component quantities.

For example, if your component quantity for 1 EA of finished product is 0,01 you may use a base quantity of 100 to avoid using decimal places on the BOM. So this quantity may not match the fixed lot sizing and system automatically adjust the component quantities for different lot sizes during the planned order creation.
