HTMLBars in future iterations of OpenUI5 a possibility?

Hello,

I was wondering if you will support HTMLBars in future iterations of OpenUI5. HTMLBars make use of a React.js like shadow DOM to improve rendering performance.

    Hi Michael,

I can say that it is not immediately planned - there are many good libraries that might be used for one or the other purpose, but we can't include all. I haven't really looked into HTMLBars so far, but if it turns out to be useful, there's always the chance that it might be included...

UI5 does support HandleBars for HTML templating (and that's the area where it might fit well), but in real life that's a usage scenario that is less frequently used like the standard UI5 controls, so it sort of has less focus than those at the moment.

In the long run there might also be changes to the UI5 rendering mechanism where it might or might not fit in, but Web Components are also on the horizon (well, they are reality for some browsers and far beyond the horizon for others), so I'm not sure how well they would fit together.

So if someone comes up with a more concrete suggestion how exactly to integrate it, it might be possible, but there are no plans at the moment.

    Regards

    and thanks for the question/suggestion

    Andreas
