Extended Learning Solution

Former Member

Hi,

We are implementing the Extended Learning Solution delivered by SAP (B2C) where an individual(External Learner) can directly register themselves and maintain there own profile.I need certain information as how to go ahead with the solution

1)Will External Learner have a separate Portal to register? Will it be the same was as we have for External candidates in e-Recruitment?

2)How can we configure the External Learner Portal?

3)How will the External Learner get directed to SAP Portal where the course catalog is maintained or how can he access the course catalog and book a course?

Any documents apart from SAP Help document will be appreciated.

Regards,

Divya

Dear Divya,

While implementing LSO for my client I had also same query, but fortunately they didn't have B2C scenerios i.e. no external learners.

Are you implementing this for any Educational industry ?

You may go ahead with SAP Web channel Experience Management solution meant for e-commerce of B2C scenerios.

Please check the thread for overview of SAPWeb Channel Experience Management  http://www.slideshare.net/collsdad/solution-brief-sap-web-channel-experience-management

Answering to your queries directly,

1.Same scenerios of Ext Candidates in E-Rec- Admin can forward a link with which they can register.

2. & 3. Please go through SAP documentation for under component PE-LSX.

As an work around which we did for a support project you can create External Persons (object type H) for them and use infotype 1032 subtype SAP to store their SAP login id. You will have to come up with a process to activate/change/delimit these objects.

Once you have the process setup to provide these people access to the portal and they exist in the system as H objects, you can use the Badi LSO_LEARNR to map the object id (reading 1032 based on SAP login id) to the learner id.

You need to follow up with your EP/ABAPer along with your functional knowledge on xLSO.

All the Best !!!

Hi Niladri,

Thanks for you input.

We are actually looking exclusively for the Extended Learning solution option.

For point one do you have any idea if there is any service through which we can get URL for  External Learner registration page as we get in e-Recruitment.

I tried searching but could not succeed.

In case we have a seperate portal how do we go ahead configuring the same.

Divya

Hi Divya,

Apart from Web channel experience service, I've no idea about any 3rd party service.

However , you can access xLSO Portal via a browser.

The Course catalogs are created in the SAP R/3 system and replicated through TREX to the learning portal. The Learning Admin at the learning provider side manages the backend operations through the SAP GUI.

Published content is stored in a content management server and is displayed to the customers in the Content player.

It's just like we are registering for a MOOC course in opensap/coursera platform , we provide our emailid , then we get an activation link in our mail id . Once clicked the link in our mail it gets activated and we can book/cancel courses of our choice.

Usually Portal setup/related Add-on installations are not in scope of  HCM Functional Consultant . We need to take help of an experienced Enterprise Portal/BASIS guy to set up the entire base.

You can get a clear picture of the end-to-end process from following diagram-

Hi Niladri,

I'm still stuck and not able to get the information as how do we get the URL(Portal)  which the end user will access.

Is there any link between the R/3 and the end user(XLSO) Portal? eg: any service through which the URL can be generated?

Request your input on the same.

Divya

Dear Divya,

This setup was entirely done by EP/Basis team for me. So I don't have clear picture on this connectivity between xLSO and R/3.

Please go through the Ramp-up Knowledge Transfer (RKT) materials for xLSO in SAP Service marketplace . These are different from materials available in help.sap.com.

They have nicely explained each and every point there.

Path is as below-
