Hi,

I have the same problem. After successful installation, it cannot start and keeps throwing exit error -1

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Hi Martin,

We're glad to have you in the community looking for answers to your questions, but you posted a question as an answer (which I converted to a comment) in a thread which is a few years old by an inactive thread (with former members) from 2015.

I want you to get the help you need, but you're unlikely to get any responses this way. Therefore, I'd like to offer some friendly advice:

* Try asking a new question instead at https://answers.sap.com/questions/ask.html.

* Familiarize yourself with https://community.sap.com/resources/questions-and-answers, as it provides tips for preparing questions that draw responses from our members.

* Take our Q&A tutorial at https://developers.sap.com/tutorials/community-qa.html, as that will also help you when preparing questions for the community.

* Complete your profile by following the steps at https://developers.sap.com/tutorials/community-profile.html, as a complete profile encourages readers to respond.

I hope you find this advice useful, and we're happy to have you as part of SAP Community!

All the Best,

-Alex

I too have a windows client machine where CR Viewer 2013 and tried 2011, both give this same error.  the .RPT file opens on another machine (server 2012) with no errors.  I saw some suggestions in other threads about Enterprise 4.0 version to change shortcut params adding -vmargs -Xms128M -Xmx256M to the shortcut.  Problem is, this .RPT is run by launching the .RPT and file associations don't directly call crviewer.exe, they call crstartup.exe and there's no way in windows 10/2012 to change the file association program to add parameters.  Or can I do it in the registry?  I found:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CrystalReportsLauncher\shell\Open\command

Hi Cominic

How far do you get?

E.g.; do you get the error on start, on load of a report, on refresh of a report, on print, export?

I've just done an install and have no problems at all.

Any errors or issues on install?

Can you try on another computer, preferably one that is not imaged by your IT (e.g. your home computer?).

Check to see if %TEMP% has read / write permissions.

Try to run as; right click on the crw32.exe and select Run as administrator.
