BICS Performance Issues

Hi,

I few webi reports on BEX query using BICS connectivity, Once the reports and bex query are promoted to higher environment (Q) the reports are running very slow (5X slow), the prompt screen takes very long to pop up and reports take forever to run.

To test this out I have switched the connection in BO (dev) to point the Q and I find that every time my business objects reports are connected to one particular BW environment(Q) its very slow to execute the report, the date volumes and query executions are same in both BW environments.

Is there any setting in BW which controls the execution time/packet size/delivery times or anything?  any suggestions?

I am on BO 4.1 SP4 patch2 and BW on HANA 7.3 SP9

Thanks

Ram

This document covers a lot of the things you will want to check in QA vs DEV.

In particular, I would check the OLAP cache settings.  That could be one reason it is much slower.

Doing a comparison of the RSTT output from Dev vs QA might be a good place to start too.

Thanks

Hi,

You're not alone!

I'm on BW 7.4SP8 on HANA with BO 4.1 SP3 and I have exactly the same problem.

Running a query with rsrt or with analyzer shows the prompt quickly whereas using webi takes some time to generate the prompt window.

I'm looking for solutions too. I'll post it here if I found something.

At present, I have just applied note 1733726 which seems to correct BICS programs in BW. It seems to work a little quickly since.

Ram,

Have you re-run the APS Wizard to tune optimize the split based on your server memory.   You will also need to tune memory setting for DSL & Visualization servers.

BI 4.1 SP2 uses more JAVA memory with the updated Java engine.
