NWBC in Browsers

Hi all,

To a customer, they want to access NWBC from outside the network. For that we are installing Web Dispatcher. My doubt is once the web dispatcher is installed, can they access NWBC from any network.

2.13 NWBC for HTML - SAP NetWeaver Business Client - SAP Library

Here its written that, NWBC HTML can be accessed from ABAP Systems only. What it means..??

Can't they access by a URL link..?

Or SAP GUI also need to be installed separately..??

Please guide.

Regards,

Namsheed.

Hi Namsheed,

NWBC for HTML is accessed via a URL using a web browser (no desktop client is required other than a supported browser). The browser connects to an ABAP system where NWBC for HTML is available (this depends on your system version etc...)

SAP GUI is not required. All GUI screens can be rendered using the WebGui inside of the NWBC for HTML.

Hth,

Simon

Hi Simon,

Thanks for your reply.

"The browser connects to an ABAP system where NWBC for HTML is available (this depends on your system version etc...)" , For my understanding I am asking, Is this work will be done by Basis team..? we are in EHP7. Is there any other prerequisites.

Our requirement is the customer need to access the NWBC from outside the private network. The basis team is installing web dispatcher as well.

After that, it is possible to access NWBC from outside the network right, if basis has done the required settings.

Thanks,

Namsheed.

Correct. They will need to configure the Web Dispatcher to access the NWBC on the ABAP system. I would recommend blocking all URLs and then creating a whitelist to allow only the required URL paths.

You should check your NetWeaver version the EHP level isn't relevant I think. E.g. NW 7.01, 7.02, 7.3, 7.4 etc...

Hi Simon,

Our NetWeaver version is 7.4.

Hope this is fine. I also also take care of whitelist u recommended. We have to maintain those in http_whiltelist table right..??
