How Flavors access can be included in ABAP Roles ?

Hi experts,

                I am new to SAP and recently have been working on SAP Screen Personas. I have a task to assign flavors to abap roles for tcode - SU01.

I am not sure whether we can assign flavors directly to SU01 to access ABAP roles.??

Need help on it.. and also it would be great help if any1 can guide me through implementation.

Thank you for ur responses.. I appreciate your help. What I am trying to say is there a way by which we can assign flavors to tcode through Roles without going through /n/PERSOS/ADMIN_UI. So what I mean to say is are flavours linked to roles by any means.

In Personas v2, no, flavours are not linked to roles. You have to assign them in the admin_ui, either directly to users or to groups which also have users assigned.

In Personas v3, flavours are assigned to roles.

I was confused because you asked about assigning flavours to tcodes. You don't need to do that. Flavours are built specifically for tcodes - no assignment is necessary or possible. They can be used only for the tcodes they were built for.

Thank you for your advice..now its clear to me that by using Personas v2 we cannot link flavours to roles.. So I need to make use of Personas v3 right ? I am not familiar with Personas v3 so it would be great help if you could tell me more about it and also the procedure to assign flavours to roles on Personas v3.

Personas v3 is currently in ramp-up and not yet generally available. There are some details here - - and more will be posted over time, I'm sure.

In order to assign a flavor to a role in Personas 2.0, first you'd have to create a Personas group and assign the flavor to the group.

A group can be created referencing a PFCG role. This happens in the Personas admin transaction's Mass Group Maintenance function.
So while direct flavor assignment to a role is not possible (as Steve explained), there is a way to do it via a group.

Personas 3.0 gets away with the user groups so this intermediary step is not necessary anymore.

Dear Swapnil,

You have to assign Personas flavors to user in transaction /n/PERSOS/ADMIN_UI thru Flavor management option. All transaction level authorization are done in R3 system.

This means even if you assign a flavor to the user in Personas, he cannot use the flavor unless he has authorization in R3 system.

I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to achieve. Can you give a bit more detail?

For the initial implementation, check through the implementation and configuration guides - they do contain everything you need to get started. Ask back here if you have any issues after doing that...
