Hello, Experts,
Happy new year,
I am configuring a EWA function solution manager system, I would like to know whether the Diagnostics Agents (DAA) must be installed on all managed systems?
I searched on scn but there are different answers, someone said it's not necessary however someone said it's obligatory to be installed.
Thank you for your advices.
Fresh
For ABAP systems it is not required for EWA configuration.
At least I have seen and configured ABAP systems for EWA without installing DA.
Cheers

Hello Fresh,
Happy new year, too.
Yes, you need to install DA.
In Managed System Config Steps 4th step is "Assign Diagnostic Agent".
If you check the note 1365123 - Installation of Diagnostics Agents there is an attachment AgentInstallationStrategy.pdf.
You will see that there are 6 rules for for DAs. Rule #1 explains how many DA you need to instal for your system. It depends on your system architecture.
Concerning Diagnostics Agents always pay attention to the 6 essential rules, as described in the attached document.
Rule #1: Install the required number of Diagnostics Agents
Rule #2: Have up-to-date SAP Host Agents
Rule #3: The Diagnostics Agent is a standard SAP system
Rule #4: Use the latest SWPM 1.0 (SP04 Patch 2 or higher),
Rule #5: (In context of Java Managed System) In case the “Ensure HA virtualization compatibility” option was not used in the past:
Rule #6: To remove a Diagnostics Agent instance installed for a specific hostname:

yes, you need Diagnostic Agent
In Solution Manager 7.1 once the Managed system is properly prepared for service the EWA can/will be created and scheduled in the managed system configuration process.
The Diagnostic Agent needs to be installed and connected during the managed system configuration.
