SAP Functional Consultants looking to learn SAP HANA

Dear Experts,

Can someone kindly suggest the road map for a SAP functional consultant to learn SAP HANA.

I am a functional consultant with 5 years of SAP functional experience in PS(major),MM,IM. I want to learn SAP HANA.

Kindly suggest how should I approach for it and what areas I should take on to learn in HANA.

How it will be beneficial to my career growth if I learn SAP HANA?

It's the interest which is preparing me to learn about this new technology.

Kingly give me some guidelines for it.

Hi Saurabh

What in particular do you want to learn about HANA? Are you hoping to move out of functional or learn more about HANA platform and impacts to your area?

As a starting point, have you looked at open.sap.com for free online training for introduction to HANA

Hi Colleen,

Its my curiosity to learn about it. On other side, I want to know how it would be benefecial for me as I am a functional consultant working in project system (PS)  and MM domain. So, should I spend time in learning HANA(functional) or should I devote my time in enhancing my skills in other functional areas as PM,PLM etc.

Yes, I was going through "SAP business suite powered by HANA learning course" on its 4 weeks free online learning.

I'm not a functional consultant so it's a bit hard to provide any further guidance. The only part I can suggest is that you look at any "Renewal" activities for your module/domain. A lot of processes or activities are being cleaned up and made more efficient due to the HANA platform. It's changing the way solutions are designed - reconciliations that took hours might only take seconds or BW reporting built can now be designed as transactional or summary reports within the ERP.

It's great that you are learning the fundamentals of HANA and what's it all about but you can start learning concepts for your area. As a general guidance - try to find content from your space related to SAP Basis Release 7.4 as this is where "HANA enabled/compliant/whatever" started coming up. Search for "renewal" or "simple" for your topic and you might find other information.
