Is there a better way to import stock levels than the way I'm using?

Hello,

I'm currently using SAP 8.82 and I'm using the OITW template to import counts into my warehouses.  I am then going to Inventory Transactions > Inventory Posting and selecting the warehouse I imported and pressing OK.  After a while it shows me what the count is and allows me to reconcile.  The trouble is that we have hundreds of thousands of item codes, so it takes a really long time before I can get to that point and it has timed out a few times as well.  (It's taking 30-40 mins at minimum and I've had it crash on me twice.

Am I going about this the wrong way, do I just have too many item codes?  Is there a way I can do this quicker?  We need to zero out the quantities for items that didn't get counted and get the counts into inventory for the ones that we did.

Thank you,

Hi,

If you upload larger file, sure the files will not be uploaded and DTW will be crashed. To avoid this,

1. Try to split small files (less than 1000 records) and upload the file.

2. Make sure no one connected to B1 while uploading.

Thanks & Regards,

Oh actually I think you have misunderstood me.  The OITW files that I imported with the DTW tool are not crashing.  That uploads just fine.  However the stock levels are not actually posted until I open SAP, go to the inventory module, select "Inventory Opening Balances, Inventory Tracking, Inventory Posting", go to the Inventory Posting tab, select the warehouse.  (Here it offers me the ability to limit the item codes from _____ to _____ but I can't really make use of that because some of the item codes counted start with AA, and others start with ZZY leaving something like 310,000 codes in between), and press OK. After pressing OK it takes about 30-40 mins and a new screen pops up that has the option to "reconcile."  I press that button and after several seconds it is finished.  Lastly I run the Inventory in Warehouse report to confirm the stock levels which are accurate.

The problem comes during that 30-40 mins I mentioned above.  It's during that time the program is vulnerable to crashing.  If I narrow the item code range to cover just 1 item, the next screen will pop up almost instantly.  Unfortunately, depending on the warehouse, I have to update anywhere between 5 and 1,000 items, and since those items aren't in sequence (i.e. some start with A and others start with Z), I can't narrow the range down.
