Proposals of planned order or Purchase requisition on appropriate storage location

Hi Experts,

I am trying to find a way to do stock check on storage locations. My client has a requirement wherein he has limitations of stock in storage location. Based on std net req calculation MRP will propose the receipts after checking the stocks in all sloc.Is it possible for a system to do planning based on stock limits for a sloc and then assign a proper sloc after planning based on stock availability.

I don’t think so MRP areas can do these. As far as I understand it can only group certain Slocs together.

Please let me know if there is appropriate solution in ECC?

Regards,

Kapil

Hi Kapil,

still, defining MRP areas at SLOC level should be the solution; I would give it a try.

Hi Horatiu,

Thanks for your suggestion. But that will not solve the purpose of allocating storage location based on stock levels. It will not optimize the stock limits per storage location

If it can kindly suggest me how..so that I can try for MRP area..

Kapil,

You need to Run MRP Storage location wise by assigning MRP Area by assigning Re order point for each location.

See below link for storage location wise MRP

Hi Kapil

I don't understand exactly why do you think that MRP areas will not optimize the stock limits for each storage location. With MRP areas you can define a different MRP type and lot sizing procedure for each storage location or group of storage locations, so I think that this is a perfect solution for this issue. You can also define a special procurement type, telling the system how this material will be procured on each MRP area.

Another possibility is to define a storage location planned separately on tab MRP 4 (this field only appears if you input the storage location when opening the material on MM02). This is a more simple solution and system runs a very simple reorder point procedure (without external requirements). It's not possible to define the MRP type or the lot sizing procedure but you can define a special procurement type.

Dear Kapil,

If you want to exclude a SLoc from MRP for any material, then you can do the same

Go to MMSC for that material and set MRP indicator as 1. MRP will exclude the stock at this location

Thanks,
