SAP BW Report returning Error message on executing

Hi Experts! Whenever I am executing a report in BEx Query Analyzer, I am getting the following message -

Termination Message sent ABEND BRAIN (122): 'C... (Characteristic name)' is not a valid characteristic for InfoProvider 'C... (InfoSet name)

MSGV1: Characteristic name MSGV2: InfoSet name

Exception occurred while processing the current request; this exception cannot be handled by the application or framework

Log ID: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Unable to process request. Contact your system administrator.

I have checked in the BW system that the characteristic, which is being called invalid, is not mapped with the concerned InfoSet. Still, I am not being able to understand the characteristic is being reverted as invalid for the InfoSet.

Can anyone please help me on this? Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Do one thing indirectly it is depends on info set, that's why activate that even it is not mapped in your infoset, then try.

one more have tried display data on infoset. let me know still you face the same issue.

Thanks a lot for your reply! Actually, the concerned flow is in the Production system. So I have to seek approval before I can activate the InfoSet.

I had gone for the 'Display data' option for the InfoSet as well. We currently have no records present there, as it is empty.

Hi Sayan,

In Development you check the records are there with infoset display or not.

better try in development.

In Dev your getting the records from InfoSet that's good.

In Production System Error showing one object is in active in one info-provider, Take this info-provider and check the display data in that info-provider alone in production system, if you will see the data in this then there is no issue other wise you send the infoprovider from DEV to PROD. No issue with display data activate infoset again in DEV and sent it to production.

Still need clarity, please let me know.

Thanks for your help on this.

Well, I had done the 'Display data' for the particular InfoProvider (InfoSet) in the Production system, yesterday only and had found that there were no records.

The InfoProvider is in Active state in the Development system and it contains data, while in the Production system, it is in Active state and contains no data and it is here that the report is not working.

So, activating the InfoSet in the Development system and moving it to the Production seems a viable option to you?

Hi,

Base cubes data and dso's display data which are involved in infoset are showing data in production then send the infoset alone with activation from Dev server.

In production check the data in individual provider(means dso1,dso2&cube like). In error message is it showing cube or dso?

if you cube or dso in which that characteristic include and do the display data in that cube or dso.

why i am saying is if it is not the issue with infoset then you check like this, max you will get the issue where you struck.

continue to send the issue up to resolve. please let me know after checking in cube or dso data which are included in infoset.

Hi Srinu,

Actually the characteristic that is being told as invalid is not being found only. I had searched for it in the Production, as well as in the Development systems  to no avail. But when I run the report, the message comes up that the characteristic is invalid only. Not sure about this issue.

Same query running in DEV? if capture infoset and query send it to QA and Prod.

Hi Srinu,

Yes, I have checked it in the Development. The report is not running there as well. The characteristic is also not present there in the Development. Only difference between the Production and the Development is that the InfoSet contains data in the Development, while it doesn't contain any in the Production.

Hi,

That's the problem. So you need to rectify in Dev first ok.

create another query on top of infoset, then execute and it may work.

In this query one by one object add and execute the report after that add one more object in query and execute then you will let you know which object is really causing the issue. Then there easy to rectify your issue. let me know if any issues in this proceedure.

Hi Sayan!

Check your infoset, sound like you change structure and del any characteristic of a object (ods,cube) and this object still is in infoset.

Hi Sayan,

What i understand is that the Infoset is empty...that means no Data..

Can you fill up some sample data for testing in the Dataproviders of Infoset and then check if you are still getting the same Error.

Hi,

Try Function Module : BAPI_ISET_ACTIVATE to activate Info-set.

Also you can try programs RSQ_TRANSFORM_CLASSIC_INFOSETS and RSQ_ISET_MASS_OPERATIONS to activate the infoset.
