can we use serial number only in EWM side with no settings on ERP side or ERP is no at all involved in it ??? Can anyone suggest the customizing steps??
I would have agreed to Manish, but it seems to work without any settings in ERP.
I just tried with a product that has a serial number requirement C (on stock level) in EWM and no serial number profile in ERP at all. My expection was that the GR posting to ERP would include the SN and therefore would lead to an error - but it did not. The posting was properly done in ERP. But it was one trial only and with only one EWM serial number requirement, you definetely should make a complete test of inbound and outbound.
So if a requirement arises for this business case, then the Product master needs to be updated manually in EWM with the serial number profile if i am not wrong ,as the CIF will transfer the material as non serialized from ECC.
no, you still need to maintain the serial number profile which controls the EWM behaviour in ERP, the profile entry is then transfered with the material to the EWM product. If you don't, the profile gets deleted if any other change is transfered.
Hallo Sandip, thanks for your response, The note you shared is about Changing the Serialnumber Profile. My question was If it is possible to change an existing Serialnummber that has been entered. For Example, A wrong barcode has been scanned as a Serialnumber for a Material with Serialnumber Profiles at Quant Level-C.
if i look at the below mentioned EWM link then it says " Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) only controls the serial numbers (as a movement date) until goods issue posting. You can also extract the serial number as textual information from the delivery document, meaning that further information is saved only by the ERP system." hence in my opinion setting is required at both the place.
