Hello Experts

We are using Sap Business One on Hana and everything its working ok. But we made a mistake and the Data and log is in the wrong partition, the server is getting out of space.

Is there any way to move the files to the correct partition??

Thanks

Jacobo

Hi Jacobo,

Here is what you have to do:

  1. Take a system backup
  2. Note the location where the data and log files are currently stored
  3. Update the parameters basepath_data_volumes, and basepath_log_volumes.  Both parameters can be found in the persistence section of the global.ini file.  Set these parameters to the new data and new log file location
  4. Stop HANA
  5. Copy the existing data and log files to the new location
  6. Start HANA
  7. After verifying HANA is working as designed you can delete the data and log files from the original location

I have successful done these changes to a live system.  The other option is to reinstall and provide the proper paths during the installation.

Best regards,

Duncan

Hello Duncan

Thanks for your reply.

I have tried your solution but after copying the files and try to start the system again. We are not able to start HDBDAEMON.

If we edit the global.ini file with the default paths of the basepath_data_volumes and the basepath_log volumes. we are able to start the system again

Hi Jacobo,

After you moved the log and data files to the new location did you also ensure that they were owned by ndbadm and a member of the sapsys group?

What errors where shown in the trace files?

Best regards,

Duncan

Hello

Thanks for your response. Now its working ok. What we had to do, was as you said. log on with the user ndbadm and then with that user copy the folders to the new path.

Now we have been able to start the services correctly and log on to the databse

THANK you ver much for your help!

Regards

Jacobo
