Fixed Assets Item consolidation Opening Balance Upload

Dear All,

     I have a doubt in Fixed assets module " Assets Master"

My scenario is follows"

  • we have Vehicle - 3 nos and each same Specification & Model ( Lorry 1, Lorry 2, Lorry 3)

The Question is ....

whether i have to maintain individual item for each or shall i create one item code for all  and mention the qty??  in ' A/P invoice " consider qty column".

Assumption ...

If i maintain all the three in one item code . What is the effect on  Depreciation? In that three item i may purchased two in the last year (2013 , Jan1st)  and the other one is this year  (2014 Dec10th).

How to create Asset code for the above and How to upload Opening Balance ???

Please help me to solve this...

    even if you maintain one item code for all three items, SAP can depreciate them individually but this will be very difficult for you to understand and maintain the same at every document and report. My suggestion is maintain three item code individually.

    As per my suggestion you maintain individual master for each vehicle.


    1. Vehicle purchased in various date means depreciation calculation should be vary.

    2. You can get asset history for each vehicle.

    For asset code you maintain. One ledger for 3 vehicle but you check with your accounts team
