SAP CCtr Thin Client

Hi,

Is SAP Contact Center supports thin client for client terminal/CDT. We have NComputing L130 thin client.

Is this supported by SAP Contact Center for client terminal/CDT installation.

Also let me know the list of supported thin client.

Chand Kamya

Hello Chand,

If I understand your question properly, then the answer is most likely NO. It does not mean that you cannot run CDT with your thin client but the very environment is not directly supported by SAP, I suppose. As I understand SAP's approach here, you will get support in cases, when you can reproduce the same problem in a supported environment.

For example, if your agent using the thin client will have problems in audio (dropouts, noise, DTMF not reading etc.) and this will be cause by incompatibility of CDT with either vSpace virtual sound card or USB virtualization or the proprietary compression protocol between vSpace server and the thin client, then you will most probably not get support from SAP.

To your second question, currently there are supported software solutions for shared desktop from Citrix - XenApp 6.5 Receiver 14.0.1.4 and XenDesktop 7-  you can find this in official document SAP CCtr 7.0 Compatibility List.

Regards,

Dawood.

Hi Chand,

Short answer to your question is:
Thin Clients are not tested with SAP Contact Center by SAP and therefore those are not supported by SAP.

I would say that Dawood gave you very good answer how virtual platforms are supported by SAP in general and as thin clients are "remote desktops" to operating system this is falling to presented scenario. You can read the same from SAP Note 1492000.

Anyhow, if there is a demand to use thin clients then the recommendation is to separate audio stream to different device. For example using CDT in MTD (multi terminal desktop) mode with an hard phone would workaround this situation. This would mean that the call control would stay in CDT and an external device would be used for audio only. You can find supported hard phones from compatibility list which can be found from market place.

Hi Jukka,

Thanks for the information.

We are exactly want to do the same. CDT in MTD mode will run on thin client and SIP phone will be used for audio only. Please let me know if there is any known issue for this kind of environment.

Hi Chand,

Very good to hear that you had same approach in mind. The combination of CDT & MTD is very well tested and used widely by many of our customers - that is working fine.

So, there is no known issues. And please keep in mind that you should use SAP Contact Center version 7.0.6.100 (SP6 Patch100) or preferably 7.0.7 (SP7) and use only devices listed on our combatibility list.

Jukka
