SAP Lumira Desktop Trimming

Hello everyone,

I have been struggling for a while with this .csv document I have.

One of the columns had an Amount expressed with the following "look": "0.000000 EUR" I already changed the "." to a comma, but trimming the EUR away is getting on my nerves because it keeps appearing after the trim.

I tried simply converting the column to numbers, but nothing showed up on the new column, the cells were empty.

I want to make this thing all neat and clean looking, but I am also quite new to this Software, so maybe i am missing something here. Could it be a limitation of the trial version?

Kind regards,

Pedro Mendes

So, i need to set some points straight:

    • Just got what i wanted done, it seams that lumira only recognize values different than Zero;

    • I cannot change, as of yet, any cell value, anywhere on any kind of column. Don't know if this is the way it is supposed to be, but i just can't.

    • The trimming feature does not work, period. With different kinds of columns the rule is not followed, should the rule be trim "After"/"before" with commas, space, words :S

So, some of my issues were just postponed because i was able to get the feel, the look, i wanted with the data with some columns that had positive or negative values. But they are still issues, so if someone is having the same issue, and was able to solve, please step forward.

Anyhow, i think i will close this question, since the point i initially made is kinda solved, so thank you very much Antoine and Tammy for your fast replies, it was quite valuable nonetheless.

    • Here is the extra information I got from engineering colleagues.

      - the Trim function in the Prepare room is only able to trim white space and certain separator characters (e.g. comma).

      - we cannot trim anything within a phrase. The trim can only happen on before or after the string.  So for ex. <Space>, you can only trim a space before or after the whole string. First Name -> FirstName is not directly supported. The user will need to split  First Name into First and Name then concatenate.

      Thanks to them,

The SAP Lumira User Guide 1.21 (http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/vi01/en/lum_121_user_en.pdf) has information on the Prepare Room trim function (p.44) and some trim functions (p59, p60).

Best regards, enjoy the holiday season,

      Antoine

Hi Pedro - which version of Lumira are you using?

Could you also please upload a screen shot using the camera icon so others may better assist?

That solved the EUR issue, but shouldn't the trim function do that as well? But thank you very much for that Antoine.

As for the converting to number, the numbers still do not show up, and now when I edited the cells to try a different value (in my ingenuity thinking it could make a difference) my surprise when i could not change a single thing on them :s
